Kentucky has a handful of thriving cities revered by locals and tourists alike, but which one is attracting the most attention and permanent residents in 2024?

Kentucky towns have been a hot topic lately. When it comes to the Commonwealth, we have no shortage of small towns with a few big cities scattered in there too. Everyone has small-town pride nowadays.  Recently we have covered many of these towns in articles such as Kentucky city is one of the most mispronounced places in America, the safest town in Kentucky, a Kentucky city named one of the rudest in America, and one Kentucky city is among the best in the nation for pet owners.

To keep up with the theme of Kentucky towns, there is an updated list compiled by moveBuddha, about the top city everyone wants to move to in each state in 2024. Now, I'll admit that while there is a lot to do in this city, it's not a place that I'd want to move to. Let's check it out.

Why is Everyone Moving to This Kentucky City?

Before we reveal that answer, it's important to know how this list was compiled. Here's what moveBuddha had to say about sourcing the data to discover the top place everyone is moving to in each state:

"We identified the top city destination in each state, based on the ratio of moves in to moves out.The data was collected from moveBuddha's Moving Cost Calculator between July 2023 and March 2024 for moves planned in 2024 to find this year's most desired move-to destinations in each state. Mississippi, North Dakota, and West Virginia were omitted due to insufficient search data. For home values, we used Zillow data."

Now that we got that out of the way, the city that people are moving to the most in Kentucky happens to be Louisville. That's probably not coming as a surprise, since it is the biggest city in the state. Louisville actually made the 10 Top Move-To Cities with the Lowest Home Prices in 2024, according to moveBuddha. The city of Louisville has a move-in, move-out ratio of 124 moves in to 100 out, with an average home value of $229,026.

While I love visiting Louisville, I have always dreaded driving in the city. Whether it be because of congested driving, aggressive drivers, or the abundance of construction, I have never been a fan of being behind the wheel in Louisville. In fact, Louisville ranked as the fourth most dangerous city for driving. So that alone is a good enough reason for me to not want to move there. It was also ranked as the second most dangerous city in Kentucky.

That being said, Louisville isn't all bad. The city has so many great events and attractions for everyone in the family. There's always something going on in Louisville, and they have some of the best restaurants in the state too! So, it appears that Louisville has a lot going for it, according to this list. If you're looking to relocate in Kentucky, it might be worth looking into.
