In the age of gig work (DoorDash, GrubHub, Amazon, Uber Eats), many of us should be well-prepared to drive for a little extra cash. Delivery jobs have never been more prolific.

But if you're going to be an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile driver, the only thing you'll be delivering is smiles. And we could all use a boatload of those. (Although, if they started delivering baloney sandwiches or hot dogs, I wouldn't object.)

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile

For most of us, young and old alike, we've seen the iconic Wienermobile our entire lives at one time or another. And for that, we can thank Oscar Mayer's nephew Carl, who, in 1936, concocted the idea of a 13-foot-long metal hot dog on wheels to be used as transportation for the company spokesperson. Spotted all over Chicago early on, it became an instant hit.

The Wienermobile design, now twice the original length at 27 feet, came to us in 2000, and it's that Wienermobile (well, one of them) that I got to examine closely when it was parked in downtown Evansville in 2024.

You Can Be a Wienermobile Driver

So...are you ready to roll, Kentucky and Indiana 'Hotdoggers'? Oscar Mayer is preparing to hire 12 drivers to saddle up and drive the legendary vehicle across the country, through up to 30 states. Drivers can expect to take part in more than 200 events, make media appearances, create social content, and maintain the iconic. If that sounds like you, visit the Heinz application site and get the ball rolling. I mean the wheels.

And I dare you not to hear either of the company's famous jingles resounding through your noggin as you drive.
