Award-Winning Author and GRAMMY Nominee Silas House Will Speak in Owensboro

The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce hosts a monthly Rooster Booster breakfast at the Owensboro Convention Center. The breakfast is typically held on the first Thursday of every month, but today's breakfast was a little different. Because of the quickly approaching Spring Break for students in the Daviess County and Owensboro City School systems, the "April" breakfast was actually held this morning.

I emcee Rooster Booster and we took some time in today's program to do something we don't typically do. We gave the audience a little sneak preview of May's breakfast. We announced who our featured speaker will be for next month's event.

As you can see in the video, Silas House's literary credentials are impressive. In addition, he is the 2023-2024 Kentucky Poet Laureate and was also recently nominated for a GRAMMY for his work on Tyler Childers' video for the song, "In Your Love."

Silas' concept, writing and producer credits for that video earned him that GRAMMY nomination for Best Music Video.

Tyler Childers' video was nominated alongside artists like Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Troye Sivan, and The Beatles, whose video for "I'm Only Sleeping" eventually took the prize.

Silas will be joining the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, May 2nd. The breakfast gets underway at 7:30am CST and tickets are available in advance and at the door. The cost to attend is $15 for Chamber Members (with reservations), $20 for Members (at the door) and $25 for non-members.
