The 2024 college season was extra exciting here in Tri-State thanks to the University of Evansville making it to the Super Regional tournament. Their Cinderella season ended there, but the Purple Aces gained a lot of new fans. In 2025, we have another underdog team to cheer for.
Murray State Makes History
For the first time in school history, the Murray State University baseball team is headed to the College World Series! Whether you’re from Owensboro, Henderson, Madisonville, or just across the bridge in Evansville, this is a moment for all of us in Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky to celebrate.
Let’s be honest - when we think of college baseball powerhouses, we don’t usually picture the small town of Murray, Kentucky. But guess what? The Racers have flipped the script, and now the rest of the country is finally seeing what we’ve known all along: our neck of the woods is packed with grit, talent, and heart.

These boys didn’t just stumble into Omaha. They earned it. The Racers have beaten some powerhouse programs with walk-offs bombs, electric pitching, and stellar defense.
When and Where to Watch the Racers Play
Murray State’s first game in the double-elimination tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th at 1pm against UCLA. The rest of the schedule is kinda TBD depending on who wins and loses. You can see all College World Series games on ESPN, ESPN+, or ABC.
